About Stone & Chalk
Stone & Chalk is Australia’s largest innovation community - home to 500+ startups and scaleups, alongside a national network of investors, corporates and industry leaders shaping the future economy.
Across our hubs and programs, we support emerging technology companies across sectors including AI, fintech, space and quantum.
It’s a fast-moving ecosystem full of ambitious people, breakthrough ideas and incredible founder stories - and we’re looking for someone who can help bring those stories to life.
The opportunity
We’re looking for a proactive, creative Content Creator who thrives in fast-paced environments and loves creating engaging content.
This is a video-first role focused primarily on creating founder-led content for LinkedIn (our core social platform), while also helping us expand our presence across Instagram, TikTok, and other emerging channels over time. Content will include founder stories, interviews, reels, event coverage, behind-the-scenes content, and short-form video.
You’ll work closely with founders, startups, and the broader Stone & Chalk community to uncover compelling stories, create content quickly (film, edit and publish), and help grow Stone & Chalk’s national social presence and audience engagement.
We’re looking for someone who understands how to create content that feels native to each platform - someone who can spot trends, move quickly, experiment creatively, contribute creative concepts and campaign ideas, and turn conversations and moments into engaging digital content.
You’ll measure content performance, identify what resonates with audiences, and iterate content ideas and formats based on engagement and insights.
Confidence using AI tools to support editing, captioning, ideation, copywriting, scheduling, and content workflows is essential.
What we’re looking for
- Experience creating high-performing social and digital content
- Strong videography, editing and storytelling skills
- Experience producing short-form video content for platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok
- Understanding of social media trends and platform best practices
- Confidence filming people and helping non-creators feel comfortable on camera
- Experience using tools like Premiere Pro, CapCut, Canva, ChatGPT, Descript, or similar
- Strong communication, copywriting and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and move quickly in a dynamic environment
Experience in startups, innovation, media or community environments is highly regarded.
We’re looking for someone who is focused on impact - someone who understands how content drives awareness, engagement and growth, and who actively uses metrics and insights to improve performance over time. This person will be expected to track what works, refine formats, and continuously optimise content output to grow audience reach and ecosystem visibility.
You don’t need to meet every criteria to apply - we’re open to candidates with different combinations of strengths and experience, and the role may evolve depending on the person we choose.
The stories you’ll help tell
One of the most exciting parts of this role is the opportunity to work closely with some truly incredible founders and innovators from across Australia’s startup ecosystem.
Every week, we meet ambitious people building companies that are solving real-world problems. Here are just a few examples of the kinds of stories you could help uncover, capture, and amplify:
- How PromoSync is fixing the messy work behind supermarket discounts
- How Makers Empire uses 3D printers to turn kids into creators
- How startup Raffy protects families with life-threatening food allergies
Why Join Stone & Chalk?
This is an opportunity to work at the centre of Australia’s startup and innovation ecosystem, creating content with real visibility and impact.
You’ll gain access to a national network of founders, investors, industry leaders, and emerging technologies, while helping shape the voice and social presence of one of Australia’s leading innovation communities.
We also offer professional development support, flexibility, and wellbeing and volunteer leave.
Location
Sydney is our preferred location for this role, although we’ll also consider candidates based in Adelaide or Melbourne for the right person.
