The Blockchain Centre has an official move in date for 3 September 2018 joining a Fintech hub – Stone & Chalk in the heart of Melbourne. The Blockchain Centre will call the beautifully renovated heritage-listed The Goods Shed North home.

Following the launch of Stone & Chalk Melbourne, the hub is now home to Victorian Government startup agency LaunchVic alongside CSIRO’S Data 61, That Startup Show and Startmate. As well as three impressive accelerators – SproutX (AgTech), The Actuator (Medtech) and now its newest resident The Blockchain Centre.

Alan Tsen, GM of Stone & Chalk Melbourne said, “Blockchain technology is one of the most exciting verticals in fintech and we’re happy to be further bolstering our community by having the Blockchain Centre move into our Melbourne hub. We’re looking forward to further building the Australian blockchain ecosystem in collaboration with the team from the Blockchain Centre.”

Karen Cohen, General Manager of Blockchain Centre: “We are proud of the blockchain community that we’ve built over the last 4 years – we’ve helped beginners understand blockchain, supported many start-ups in their business journey and launched our own incubator program.”

“We are looking forward to partnering with Stone & Chalk nationally, to potentially deliver incubation and accelerator programs,” says Karen.

John Bailey, Director of Financial Services Projects, Economic Investment & Trade Policy: “The Victorian Innovation Hub was created to strengthen Victoria’s economy by connecting startups and entrepreneurs with mentors and investors, and to provide a world-class co-working facility that fosters collaboration and innovation. We are pleased to see the hub expanding to include The Blockchain Centre community.”

This exciting move marks an important partnership between Blockchain Centre and Stone & Chalk, further cementing Stone & Chalk’s position as leaders in blockchain operating out of Australasia’s premier fintech hub. We are thrilled to be continuing the growth of the Australian Fintech ecosystem as a whole through this partnership.
